National Museum of Transmigration

Beside rich in natural charm, Lampung also has historical objects which are worth visiting. Among the historical interest is the National Museum of Transmigration. The southernmost province in Sumatra Island is the first placement of transmigration areas in Indonesia. In 1905, the Dutch transfered residents of the Bagelen village, Residency of Kedu, Central Java to Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran Regency,Lampung.

Transmigration National Museum, located on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Bagelen village, Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran is one place to capture the history of transmigration in Indonesia. Bagelen village was chosen for historical reasons because in this village 23 families first moved to Lampung.


On arriving at the door gate of the museum, visitors are exposed to a magnificent two-storey building with siger shiny symbol on the upper veranda. The outside of the building is decorated with whitewashed yellowish elephant ornament lampung combined with typical Javanese carvings section entrance. Typical atmosphere felt when we stepped into.

The exact center of the room there are two statues of oxen pulling "luku" (traditional plowing tool) and a wooden wagon side.
