INACRAFT 2016 ON UNTIL 24 APRIL 2016

Vice President of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla officially opened the 18th Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair (Inacraft 2016) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Wednesday (20/04/2016). In his speech, the Vice President wants handicrafts Indonesia is able to penetrate the international market. He also pushed for a craft adjustment in accordance with market tastes.

The Exhibition of handicrafts and creative businesses The 18th Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair in 2016 is taking place from 20 to 24 April 2016 and attended by more than 1,400 craft businessmen, producers and exporters of the 34 provinces in Indonesia. Besides, exhibitors from various countries, such as Singapore, Japan, Pakistan, Nepal and Syria also attended this spectacular exhibition.

This year, the theme is "From Smart Village to Global Market", and the icon was chosen to represent this year's event is West Sumatra.The ambiance of West Sumatra looks very thick in Inacraft this year, starting from the main gate, stage, performances, until the booth icon in the main lobby of West Sumatra. Not forgetting also provided 15 special culinary booths of West Sumatra.

The Crafts will be exhibited in 2016 Inacraft among others textile crafts such as batik, weaving and songket and wood crafts in the form of statues, picture frames, and toys. There was also a craft of gold, silver, and gemstones into jewelery, also a craft of ceramics such as pottery, and much more.

This year free shuttle buses are provided for visitors. The buses are available from airport and a number of malls to the exhibition site such as : Mal Margocity (Kota Depok), Mal Taman Anggrek (West Jakarta), and Mal Summarecon (Bekasi).

Kepulauan Seribu is a collection of hundreds of islands in the Jakarta Bay. Administratively, Kepulauan Seribu is a regency under DKI (Special Region) of Jakarta covering an area of totaling 7.005,76 km sq consisting of islands with a total area of 8,71 km sq and sea waters of 6,997 km sq. 

In the district, there is a national park called  Taman Nasional Kepulauan Seribu to conserve ecosystem of marine life in Kepulauan Seribu . As the area is mostly covered in water and there are the conservation zone, it is not surprising when the development of the district with more emphasis on the development of marine aquaculture and tourism.

Thousand Islands Marine National Park is a nature conservation area in the form of land and water covering an area of ​​107 489 hectares declared in 2002 by decree of the Minister of Forestry N0.6310 / Kpts-II / 2002. In the Thousand Islands Marine National Park are the natural resources in the form of a diversity of plants and animals and their ecosystems, unique and has managed with the zoning system. The national park is needed because :

• Ecosystems are typically island ecosystems which are very small and shallow marine waters in the form of coastal forests, seagrass beds and coral reefs;
• Ecosystems are unique for being "home" for a variety of wildlife and endangered animals either protected or not protected like Eagles " Bondol", white belly sea eagle, Hawks-bill Turtle, Green Turtle, Kima and various kinds of fish consumption;
• The Ecosystems are still intact and original, with an area sufficient to sustain life naturally, as a representative of the ecosystem as Jakarta;
• The presence of these ecosystems provide a buffer (barrier) natural for the State Capital Jakarta. 

The existence of these islands as a destination of  marine and beach tourism has been recognized both by domestic and foreign tourists.  Although Kepulauan Seribu literally means thousand islands, in fact,there are only 110 islands out there. Out of these islands, 11 islands populated and 10 islands are designated as tourist destinations. 

Tourist destinations in Kepulauan Seribu are Pulau Putri, Pulau Kotok,Pulau Tidung, Pulau Semak Daun, Pulau Bira, Pulau Pari, Pulau Harapan, Pulau Bidadari, Pulau Pramuka, and Pulau Ayer. Here are islands of destination you can visit in Kepulauan Seribu.

1. Pulau Putri

 

Pulau Putri is the most remote islands besides Pulau Patara, that is not less interesting to visit among the Thousand Islands. Just like other neighboring islands, on the island we can enjoy the beautiful view of the sea in the dazzling Marine National Park at the Thousand Islands. Get To Know A Historic and Malay Cultural Heritage in Penyengat Island, Riau Islands, Indonesia.

Pulau Penyengat is a small island located approximately 2 km from Tanjungpinang, the capital city of Riau Islands province. The island measures 2,000 meters long and 850 meters wide, is located approximately 35 km from Batam Island. The island can be reached from Tanjungpinang using a motorboat or better known as pompong which takes approximately 15 minutes.

 The island has historical significance, dating back to the 18th Century, when it was established as a fort as part of the Sultanate of Johor-Riau by the Bugis. One can find many historic relics such as Masjid Raya Sultan Riau made from egg whites, the tombs of the kings, national heroes tomb of Raja Ali Haji, and the Office of the Palace complex in Bukit Kursi bastion. Since the date of October 19, 1995, Pulau Penyengat and palace complex on the island has been nominated to be one of UNESCO's World Heritage Site.

This mosque was originally built by Sultan Mahmud in 1803. Then, the mosque was renovated in the form seen today during the reign of Yang Dipertuan Muda Raja Abdurrahman,in 1832 .The main building of the mosque, measuring 18 x 20 meters, is supported by four pillars of concrete. In the four corners of the building, there is a tower where Bilal calling muslims to performs obligatory prayers five times a day. In the building of Masjid Sultan Riau there are 13 onion-shaped domes. The total number of towers and domes in Masjid Sultan Riau is as many as 17 pieces symbolizing the number of prayers obligatory prayers five times a day. Historically, the mosque was built using a mixture of egg white, lime, sand and clay.

Office palace is a palace of the viceroy Riau VIII Raja Ali (1844-1857), or also called Marhum Office. Besides being used as a residence, building constructed in 1844 is also functioned as an office by Raja Ali.Office palace measuring approximately 110 m2 and occupies an area of about one hectare which is entirely surrounded by walls. Buildings and debris are still showing the splendor of the past.

Balai Adat is functioned to welcome guests or hold a banquet for important people.Inside the building, we can see the layout and some objects of Malay custom fixtures, as well as various equipment used for art performances to entertain important guests.At the bottom of the Balai Adat, visitors can find a freshwater well said to have been centuries old and until now the water is still flowing and can be drunk directly.

The ex-building of Engku Haji Daud is only a rectangular shape concrete wall with a number of door and window frames. This building is used to be named after the building of Engku Haji Daud or royal physician building because he was the royal physician of Riau Kingdom. The ex-building attracts visitors due to its historic heritage as well as its location in the middle of settlement.

Gedung Mesiu or Gunpowder Building was used to store gunpowder in the era of Riau Kingdom. During the gloly of Riau Kingdom, there were four storage for safekeeping of gunpowder in Pulau Penyengat, but now only one left to the south of Masjid Raya Sultan Riau. The entire building is made of rectangular walls with gabled roof shape. The entrance to the building is located in the north side and furnished with small iron barred window.

Transportation To and In Pulau Penyengat
Pulau Penyengat is accessible by using a small motor boat or called by locals as pompong. There are three jetties available in Tanjung Pinang. The first one is a jetty for ferries from Batam island; the second one, positioned in the middle is servicing all ferries from Singapore; and the last one is dedicated for people from Pulau penyengat. Thus, all visitors are required to go to the third jetty to get to Pulau Penyengat.

To get around Pulau Penyengat, visitor may either take a walk or rent a "Bemor". "Bemor" is available at the jetty of Pulau Penyengat to go through all objects of tourism in faster way. Visitors may rent "Bemor" hourly or daily with the rental price of "Bemor" is Rp 30,000.0 for two riders or Rp 40,000.0 for three riders. One day rental, from 08.00 to 17.00, is Rp 300,000.0.

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, abbreviated as TMII, is a culture-based recreational site in East Jakarta. It covers an area of about 250 acres (1.0 km²). TMII lies at geographical coordinates of -6 ° 18'6.8'' L, 106° 53'47.2'' E.

As Indonesia in miniature park, TMII attempts at displaying  the culture of Indonesia from all provinces in separate pavilions depicting all aspect of daily life. Since every ethnic has different shape and style, even more than one type of traditional building reflecting respective environment and culture, TMII presents provincial pavilions to represent all ethnic groups in 33 provinces.

Provincial pavilion is built around a lake with a miniature of the Indonesian archipelago in the middle, thematically divided into six zones; Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua. Each pavilion featuring typical local building.Thus, the bulk of the facilities at TMII is made up of the provincial pavilions.

Besides regional pavilions, TMII also display museums, houses of worship every official religion in Indonesia, fauna and flora parks, recreational facilities, recreational transportation, accommodation and many others. Pavilions of Indonesian Provinces

Since each Indonesian province maintains its own unique and distinct cultures, shelters, attire and dialects, TMII built a model of each of the houses from Indonesian provinces. TMII attempted not only to reconstruct the homes of the various provinces, but also to create a realistic model of the environment and shelters of the various people of Indonesia.

The venues, which are situated around the main lake in a similar fashion to the different islands of the Indonesian archipelago, are thematically divided into six areas in respect to the main islands of Indonesia; Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan (Borneo), Sulawesi, the Lesser Sunda Islands, Maluku and Papua. Each pavilions featured in typical vernacular Indonesian architecture of each provinces. 

Examples of Indonesian traditional vernacular houses are: Joglo and Omah Kudus Javanese houses of Central Java and Yogyakarta pavilion; Minang Rumah Gadang of West Sumatra pavilion; Malay houses of Jambi and Riau provinces; Torajan Tongkonan and Bugis house of South Sulawesi pavilion; and Balinese house compound with intricately carved Candi Bentar split gate and Kori Agung gate.

It also displays various traditional costumes, wedding costumes, dance costumes, also ethnography artifacts such as weapons and daily tools, models of traditional architecture are in display to describes the way of life of its people. Each provinces pavilions also equipped with small stage, amphitheater or auditorium for traditional dance performances, traditional music performances or traditional ceremonies that usually held in Sundays. Some of these pavilions also equipped with cafeterias featuring traditional Indonesian cuisines and also souvenir shops offering various handicrafts, T-shirts and souvenirs.

Since 1975 until the 2000s, the original design of TMII consist of a model of the houses from the 27 provinces of Indonesia, including East Timor. But after the secession of East Timor from Indonesia in 2002, the East Timor pavilion changed its status to become the Museum of East Timor. Also since Indonesia now consist of 33 provinces, currently the new province pavilions of Bangka Belitung, Banten, West Sulawesi, North Maluku, Gorontalo, and West Papua is being built in northeast part of the park.After the recognition of Indonesian Chinese culture as the integral part of Indonesian culture in 2000, the new Indonesian Chinese pavilion and a Confucian temple was built within the park.

Jakarta Old Town Renovation Project Preserving The Past.

Kota Tua, Old Town, of Jakarta has been for a long ingored but since the era of Jakarta Baru [New Jakarta] under Pak Jokowi [Governor Joko Widodo] and Ahok [Deputy Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama], things are turning positively as they have great concerns about this heritage area and are truly committed to seeing it revitalized.

Under the administration of Jokowi and Ahok, the provincial government founded the Jakarta Endowment for Arts and Heritage (Jeforah) a non-profit consortium, which consists of two government-owned companies, nine private companies, artists, architects, historians and many other experts, in early 2014. 

The group’s members came together out of concern for the Old Town, vowing to carry out a revitalization project. Meanwhile, the city also established the Jakarta Old Town Revitalization Corporation (Jotrc) to carry out the ambitious plans under Jeforah’s guidance and supervision.A large number of stakeholders have invested their time, effort, and funds into the undertaking. 

According to Lin Che Wei, chairman of Jotrc. The ownership of buildings in Kota Tua is distributed by at least three shareholders : the government 4%, private companies 40%, and persons the rest. By joining the forces with the consortium, Lin hopes to encourage all stakeholders in Kota Tua to work together in renovating and revitalizing the area. 

Revitalization Plan

The revitalization plan is basically aimed at converting the Kota Tua area into a special trade and business center. In order to sustain the economies of the area, the activities encompassing of art and culture, education, lifestyle (food, fashion and entertainment), MICE (meeting, incentive, convention, exhibition), creative industries and finance will be allowed to flourish.

The advisory board guarantees that there will be no gentrification and no change to the old buildings.

Instead, owners of Kota Tua’s colonial buildings will be encouraged to renovate.The provincial government will enact new regulations for building owners. Under the new regulations, owners who neglect their property will be given a large penalty, while those who agree to renovate and maintain their structures will enjoy significant discounts on land and building taxes.Those who cannot afford to renovate their old buildings, may send their proposals to the government.
