Wecome to Bangka Belitung Province : A Tourist Destination with Unique Beaches.

Bangka Belitung, or Babel, is a provincial region of Indonesia consisting of mainly two islands -Bangka, Belitung- and other small islands. Geographically, Bangka Belitung lies off the southeast coast of Sumatra, close to the South Sumatra province. Chronologically, Bangka Belitung Islands is a regional division of the province of South Sumatra.

Formerly part of South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Province became its own province on 21 November 2000 along with Banten and Gorontalo based on  the Act No. 27 of 2000 on the Establishment of Bangka Belitung Province consisting of the Bangka Regency, Belitung Regency and Pangkalpinang. Currently, Bangka Belitung province is made up four more regencies: Bangka Barat, Bangka Tengah, Bangka Selatan, and Belitung Timur.

The main stay of economic activities in Bangka Belitung Province is tin production,providing about 30 per cent of the world's tin (http://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-magazine). Bangka Belitung Islands is kown as part of "Indonesia Tin Belt". "Indonesia Tin Belt" constitutes the east Asian tin belt, stretching from China through Thailand and Laos to Malaya and Indonesia (wikipedia.com). In Indonesia, tin deposits found in Karimun Island, Kundur, Singkep, and partly on the mainland of Sumatra (Bangkinang) in the north continues to the south of the island of Bangka, Belitung, and Karimata to the area of west Kalimantan.

Since the popularity of  "Laskar Pelangi" or Rainbow Troop, a novel by a Belitung-born writter Andra Hirata, Bangka Belitung Province has become famous tourism destinations for its beaches. "Laskar Pelangi" has help promote Bangka Belitung Islands as tourist destinations with fine white sand beaches, calm waves with bluish green Tosca sea water as well as clusters of granite along beaches.Beaches around Pangkal Pinang are the closest destinations for those with a short visit in Bangka Island.

As Capital City of Bangka Belitung Provice, Pangkal Pinang is the center of government and thus cater for government activities, trade and industry; yet Pangkal Pinang also has quite many attractions to enjoy.  when visiting this city, you will find a lot of beautiful spots, one of which is Parai Tenggiri beach, which has a blend of natural rocks and the sea with a stunning beauty.

Parai Tenggiri beach is 40 km away  from the provincial capital of Bangka Belitung, Pangkalpinang.This beach is the most beautiful beaches in the Bangka Belitung Islands and has the character of gentle waves and a sloping surface. The Panorama of this one is very exotic with a stretch of granite rocks. As on other Bangka beaches, the beach also has granite rocks with large sizes in a variety of unique shapes and amounts presenting beautiful view of seascape.

 A new icon of tourism in Bangka Belitung is Bangka Botanical Garden (BBG). BBG is one of the favorite icon agrotourism in Bangka Belitung. On the island of Bangka, Pangkalpinang city in particular, BBG has become one of the prime tourist destination and is always crowded with tourists. In BBG, tourists can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, as well as learning about the business of agriculture, livestock and fisheries organically integrated that is already well underway. Moreover, it location is adjacent to the Pasir Padi beach, and within easy reach from the downtown of Pangkalpinang. BBG is offered as a integrated solution to the former tin mining areas with severe environmental problems, replicating the same success in Phuket, Thailand. 
For golf enthusiasts,  you can have a different golfing experience at Bukit Intan Golf Course. This golf facility  stands on the highest hill of Pangkalpinang, located very strategically from the city center and can be reached in around 10 minutes from Depati Amir Airport. Currently, it has 18 holes and driving range, which is equipped with locker rooms and multipurpose hall with a capacity of 100 people and a cafe VIP room. Backed by the beautiful scenery, we can see the green hills, natural, cool, comfortable and charming.
